Child at Risk Health Unit

The Child at Risk Health Unit (CARHU) is an ACT Health’s Women, Youth and Children Community Health program based at the Canberra Hospital.

The unit provides medical examinations, health screens, education, consultation and therapy for all children and their families and/or carers in the ACT with concerns of child abuse and neglect.

The service is free for Medicare and Asylum Seeker cardholders. Clients are bulk-billed where eligible.

For clinical services, a written referral is required.

Consulting with CARHU does not remove your mandatory responsibility to report suspected non-accidental injury or sexual abuse of children and young people to Child Protection.
