Canberra Health Service offers physiotherapy assessment and treatment to help manage strains and sprains, arthritic conditions, neck and back conditions and recovery after surgery. This will usually include exercises, education and advice to help promote self-management of these conditions.

We also offer Pelvic Health Physiotherapy to assess and manage a range of continence and pelvic pain issues for both men and women.

These services are delivered through several ways; video conferencing using Health Direct, telephone, individual face to face appointments and group exercise programs. We encourage all initial contact with our services to be through Health Direct. Most patients over 65 years old will need to have a My Aged Care assessment before being seen.

Our services are available to children (over 1) and adults who live in the ACT.

You cannot access our services if you:

  • Receive high level care within an aged care facility, or home assistance through a My Aged Care level 3 or 4 package, (unless your budget is fully allocated, and you need urgent assistance with physiotherapy. This will be assessed on a case by case basis).
  • Are a DVA gold or white card holder
  • Have a compensable claim for your condition
  • Have National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plan, with the exception of some pelvic health clients.

You can refer yourself to our services or have your GP or other healthcare professional send a referral for you.

Our services are free for Medicare and Asylum Seeker cardholders.
