Free influenza vaccine for children aged 6 months to under 5 years

free influenza vaccine for children

All children aged from 6 months to under 5 years are eligible to receive a free vaccine each year to protect against influenza virus.

Influenza (known as flu) is a highly contagious respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus. It’s spread from person-to-person through coughing and sneezing.

Influenza can be fatal for young children, even if they are healthy. A yearly flu vaccine is the best way to reduce the risk of your child getting sick and spreading it to others.

The free Influenza vaccine is available through your usual immunisation provider, including GPs and ACT Health Early Childhood Immunisation Clinics. Please consult your doctor as some charges may apply.
