Quality Improvement in Healthcare – Why it matters and global challenges

Monday 29 July, 1-3pm

Presenter: Emma Thomas PhD student, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, University of Melbourne and Senior Heart Health Coordinator, Heart Foundation

Summary:  This workshop will address the importance of quality improvement in healthcare, the barriers and enablers for implementing service change and will facilitate networking opportunities with like-minded professionals. Emma Thomas was a key member of the working group to develop nationally standardised content, quality indicators and standardised data sets for cardiac rehabilitation services across Australia. Using this cardiac rehabilitation example, this interactive session will facilitate discussion regarding the process to develop the new quality indicators, what is included in the new Victorian standardised cardiac rehabilitation content outline and the future directions for this work. This workshop will also be an opportunity to provide formalised feedback on the national quality indicators during the consultative process.
