ACT Pathology clinician information

ACT Pathology provides services and advice to clinicians across the ACT.

Our Customer Liaison Team is available to discuss all service delivery issues, including reporting delivery, courier services, patient billing and collection centres.

For more information, please contact our Customer Service Manager, on 02 5124 2932.

You can also contact our Collection Centres directly.

We offer different reporting options to meet the individual needs of our clients. This includes an extensive courier service that delivers reports to doctor’s surgeries across Canberra.

Electronic Result Delivery

Clinical Information System

The Clinical Information System (CIS) is only available to ACT Health employees who treat patients. The system is a secure way for you to assess patient results through a user-friendly web browser. ACT Pathology provides authorised personnel with access to pathology results via CIS on the ACT Government Intranet.

To apply, please request access through the icon on the CIS application or email pathologyapplication@act.gov.au for further information.

Downloading to surgeries

ACT Pathology can provide direct and secure pathology results for surgeries that use practice management software, such as Medical Director, Medtech 32, Medical Spectrum, Intrahealth and Genie. Results are downloaded in PIT or HL7 formats for external clients.

You can access this service on both PC and Apple computers using HealthLink software.

To apply for HealthLink, please use our online application form or phone Customer Services on (02) 5124 2932.

Auto faxing

We can automatically fax pathology results to a requesting practitioner's surgery as soon as they are authorised in the laboratory.

You can use auto fax for specific tests or for all results. Additional hard copies can be requested.

Hard copy result delivery

Referring practitioners can choose to receive standard A4 reports or a modified A4 report with a perforation to reduce the size to A5.

Reporting features include:

  • abnormalities highlighted in bold
  • cumulative reporting of up to five patient episodes
  • provision of intelligent personalised comments using a Laboratory intelligent Decision Support (LiDS) program
