Food Safety Training and Resources

ACT Health offers access to various food safety training and resources.

I’M ALERT Food Safety website is a free online training program available to food handlers and any other interested members of the public.

The I’M ALERT training provides a basic understanding of safe food handling. It contains interactive quizzes to test your knowledge of general food safety and you are issued with a certificate on completion.

We strongly recommend this course to anyone who handles food. It takes approximately 2 hours to complete.

All Food Safety Supervisors for food businesses operating at a declared event must complete all modules of the I’M ALERT food safety training. This include not-for-profit community organisations.

Please see the Food Safety Supervisors webpage for more information about Food Safety Supervisor requirements.

We have developed various resources to help you comply with ACT Food Safety Laws and standards. These resources can help you make sure the food you sell is safe for the public to eat.

They don’t cover all requirements set out in the local and national food laws and should not be considered legal advice.

Please call the Health Protection Service on 6205 1700 or email to request a hardcopy of the resources.
