ASSAD - Alcohol use, ever, last year, last month, last week

Although ACT secondary students’ reported alcohol use remained relatively stable between the 2014 and 2017 surveys, there have been significant decreases in alcohol use over the reporting periods. This is most obvious in the ‘drank alcohol in the past year’ category, which dropped from 73.6% in 1996 to 41.1% in 2017. During the same period, the proportion of 'ever drinkers' decreased from 89.7% to 65.5%, respectively, 'drank in the past month' from 45.7% and 24.1%, respectively, and 'current drinkers' (drank in the past week) from 29.1% to 11.6%, respectively.
