Respondents to the Year 7 Health Survey were asked to report how often they usually help with dinner preparation and clean up weekly.
In 2021, the proportion of respondents who help with dinner preparation and clean up everyday was 31.5%. while 22.4% reported helping 1-2 times, 20.5% 3-4 times and 11.9% 5-6 times per week. 13.7% reported never or rarely helping with dinner preparation and clean up.
In 2021, there was no difference by sex of those who help with dinner preparation and clean up 1-2 times, 3-4 times, 5-6 times and everyday in the week. However, males were significantly less likely to help with dinner preparation and clean up compared to females, with 17.2% of males responding that they never or rarely help, compared with 11.1% of females.
For the purpose of reporting the Year 7 Health Survey data on HealthStats, if the 95% confidence intervals of the estimates do not overlap, they are considered to be significantly different.
Persons includes male, female, other and refused sex respondents and may not always add to the sum of male and female.
