Gonococcal infection

    • Gonnococcal infection is a notifiable disease both in the ACT and nationally.
    • In the ACT, it is a requirement for certain groups of people to notify Gonnococcal infection diagnoses to the Chief Health Officer under the Public Health Act 1997. Notification data on each Gonnococcal infection case are collected on behalf of the Chief Health Officer by the Disease Surveillance Unit of the Health Protection Service, ACT Health.
    • The Disease Surveillance Unit is responsible for the coordination of the ACT Communicable Diseases Surveillance Program, which includes collecting and analysing data, and implementing disease control measures for more than 60 notifiable conditions.
