About the PPF Major Grants

PPF Major Grants are aimed to support short-term applied research projects or larger requests for seed funding.  Large grants will be limited in number and are aimed to provide either a near miss funding scheme or a stepping-stone for early to mid career researchers who are judged on the basis of their application to have good prospects for future competitive funding from other sources such as the NHMRC.

Funding is given for an initial maximum of one year with possibility of continuing funding for another year if required, on application and if there is satisfactory progress with the research.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The major portion of the research will be based at Canberra Hospital.
  • Funding is open to all Canberra Hospital based researchers who are employed by ACT Health.
  • At least one member of the research team is expected to have a research track record.
  • Collaborative projects between departments are encouraged.
  • Applications with a strong clinical research focus receive higher priority than other forms of research.

Canberra Hospital Private Practice Fund is funded from contributions from staff specialists at Canberra Hospital. The fund provides financial support for continuing clinical professional development of staff at Canberra Hospital and research.
