An External Review of the ACT Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Service System was recently completed by Siggins Miller Consultants on behalf of ACT Health.
The reviewers considered the current arrangements, the changing needs of the population and the ACT community, the issues affecting the AOD service system, and its capacity to address them.
Alcohol and Other Drug Service System - External Review
Siggins Miller's findings and recommendations have been based on:
- A review of existing documentation about the ACT AOD services
- Relevant literature about existing research on frameworks for alcohol and other drug service delivery, models of care for substance use treatment, and general principles of resource allocation in health
- A review of service activity and population data
- Data gathered during focus groups, interviews, surveys and telephone interviews with consumers, and representatives of government, private sector and non-government agencies providing AOD specific and complementary support services.
ACT Health will consult with key stakeholders over the coming months to seek comment on the report's findings.
