Food Services at Canberra Hospital currently maintains a fourteen day menu cycle which has been designed in collaboration with the Nutrition Department.
Menus are distributed each morning to patients within the hospital and collected throughout the day. These menus are for the following day's meals. If you require assistance to complete your menu please let our staff know when they deliver the menu to you.
If you have not completed a menu a default menu selection will be delivered to you. This selection has been determined by Food Services and Nutrition to ensure it meets you dietary requirements.
All special diets need to be ordered through the Nutrition Department, referrals can be made by hospital staff, clients or carers.
Please ask the nursing staff to arrange a Nutrition Assistant to visit you and discuss your dietary requirements with you.
The Nutrition Department provides nutrition care to hospital inpatients and some outpatient clinics. This may include nutrition assessment, nutrition screening, nutrition therapy, education and discharge planning. The Nutrition Department works closely with Food Services to ensure the nutritional needs of patients are catered for.
If you require kosher meals please contact the Food Services department 5 days prior to your scheduled admission, with your name, date of admission and the anticipated length of your stay. By advising the Food Services department prior to admission will ensure that culturally appropriate meals can be arranged.
