ACT Centre for Public Health Practice

Based in ACT Health's Population Health division, the ACT Centre for Public Health Practice aims to:

  • Strengthen the development of the public health workforce, by providing a centre for applied, practical training, for ACT Health employees, students in the Canberra region, and others;
  • Conduct and support research on public health practice;
  • Develop strategic partnerships with relevant local, national and international groups

What we do

This Centre builds on the commitment of the Population Health Division to development of its workforce, providing opportunities for field placements and the continuous improvement of public health practice. It is anticipated that professional practice and management, information management, communication and economics would complement areas of study already established in the mainstream of public health practice, such as environmental health, epidemiology, health promotion, microbiology, risk management and toxicology.
