ACT Health provides counselling and information for sexual health issues

Canberra Sexual Health Centre, located on the Canberra Hospital campus, provides free and confidential information, counselling and treatment.

The Centre is staffed by doctors and nurses trained in the area of Sexual Health.

As a specialist clinic we can provide you with advice or access to the latest information and treatment in this field.

No appointment is necessary on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 9am - 2pm and on Wednesday between 1.30pm - 3.30pm.

The AIDS Action Council of the ACT provides a comprehensive range of HIV/AIDS related services to the ACT community, aimed at eliminating further transmission of HIV and minimising the personal and social impacts of HIV infection. Phone (02) 6257 2855.

A pap test is a simple procedure in which a number of cells are collected from your cervix and sent to a laboratory where they are tested for any abnormal changes. No drugs or anaesthetics are required and it can easily be done by a doctor or women's health nurse. It only takes a few minutes, but it may save your life. Chlamydia is Australia's most common sexually transmitted disease and because there are often no symptoms, you might not even know you have it. Chlamydia can cause infertility, chronic pain or infection of the liver or joints. If you need help with Chlamydia, see your GP or contact the Canberra Sexual Health Centre on on (02) 6244 2184.

The ACT Hepatitis Resource Centre is a community based organisation representing people in the ACT who are affected by the hepatitis C virus through contributions to territory based policy responses, lobbying for change, the provision of advocacy, support and referral for those affected, and the development and implementation of educational initiatives.
