Hospital in the Home (HITH) is an inpatient service of The Canberra Hospital and provides an acute hospital substitution for patients of the Canberra Region.
As a HITH patient your care will be provided in your home by HITH nurses.

You are eligible for HITH if you:
- You live in Canberra or Queanbeyan
- You have a telephone
- You are self caring or have a suitable carer
- Your condition is clinically appropriate for home-based care
- Your home environment is safe for the delivery of treatment
HITH patient's have access to the hospital services such as:
- Physiotherapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Pharmacy
- Pathology
- Social work
If you are currently an in-patient you can ask the nurses or doctors to arrange for a HITH nurse to come and speak to you.
