Reconciliation Action Plan

Health Directorate's Reconciliation Action Plan 2012-2015

The Health Directorate's Reconciliation Action Plan 2012-2015 was launched by Dr Peggy Brown, Director-General on 4 July 2012, during NAIDOC Week.

Our action plan aims to help bring about change by creating a health environment that is culturally sensitive and aware that reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians is an important element of our organisation's commitment to close the life expectancy gap.

The vision:

  • For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in the ACT and surrounding region to enjoy a quality of life, life expectancy and health status equal to all Canberrans.

The purpose:

  • To enhance relationships through our Reconciliation journey and to make a difference by contributing to Closing the Gap in life expectancy.
