    Growing old is all about living "at home" (25 March 2008)

    10am Tuesday 8th April, the Independent Living Centre will hold a special event aimed at giving you all the design, renovation and product ideas you need to adapt your home and make it more suitable for independent living.

    Young people urged to avoid taking up smoking (19 March 2008)

    Speaking on National Youth Tobacco Free Day (19 March), ACT Health Minister Katy Gallagher has encouraged young people to avoid taking up smoking. 90 percent of Australians who currently smoke began smoking as teenagers, and most new users are young people.

    Postnatal and antenatal depression evening support group (18 March 2008)

    For women in the paid workforce experiencing symptoms of depression in pregnancy or after the birth of their baby, the PANDSI evening support group will meet from 6.30 – 8.30pm from Thursday 1st May – Thursday 19th June. The cost is $40 for the eight week course. Please contact Nicci on (02) 6232 6664 or email nicci.blount@pandsi.org.au to reserve your place.

    Chronic Kidney Disease - a growing health problem (13 March 2008)

    One in three adults is at an increased risk of developing Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), and one in seven has at least one clinical sign of the condition. Speaking on World Kidney Day (13 March), ACT Health Minister Katy Gallagher said there is currently no cure for CKD.

    Talk about weight - free child nutrition program (18 February 2008)

    Talk about Weight is a free two week program for parents of 2-12 year old children who are concerned about their child being or becoming overweight. Join the next course at Belconnen Health Centre on 6th & 13th March. Call 6207 9977 to register.

    Pelvic Floor Workshop (7 February 2008)

    Women of all ages who are experiencing problems with bladder control, bowel control or prolapse, are invited to attend a free two part workshop presented by the continuing care community Physiotherapists at Belconnen Health Centre, Benjamin Way.

    Sex worker under investigation (18 January 2008)

    ACT Health and ACT Policing are both investigating the matter further, and working with the infected person to identify any possible contacts who may require medical care. ACT Health has established a hotline 1800 000 974 for enquiries.

    Caution advised regarding deadly mushrooms (4 January 2008)

    ACT Health is again reminding people to steer clear of the world's most deadly mushroom - the Death Cap.

    Maternal and Perinatal Health in the ACT 2000 - 2004 (31 December 2007)

    This report provides an overview of maternal and perinatal health in the ACT from 2000 to 2004. The report shows that ACT women are delaying child bearing well into their 30's.
