Influenza Pandemic (H1N1)
A new vaccine to protect people from H1N1 Influenza or Swine Flu called Panvax® H1N1 is now available.
Whooping Cough (Pertussis)
The ACT is currently experiencing higher than usual rates of pertussis notifications.
In response to this, ACT Health is providing free pertussis vaccine to all parents and grandparents who have regular contact with infants under 12 months of age.
The ACT is currently recording rates of pertussis well above average.

Each year, the 'flu causes serious infection and death around the world, usually in the winter months. The 'flu can lead to complications and for some people - the elderly, people with poor immune systems, people with pre existing respiratory disease - influenza can be a significant disease.

Meningococcal disease
The meningococcus is a bacterium that can be found at the back of the throat or in the nose in about 10% of the community at any given time. Although most people who carry these bacteria remain quite well, they are able to spread the bacteria to others, a few of who may become very ill.
