About the Board
The Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists Board of the ACT is established under the ACT Health Professionals Act 2004.
Roles and responsibilities
Administer the Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists Schedule 8 to the Health Professionals Regulations, and the Notifiable Instruments (Standards Statements) which provides for the registration of persons engaged in the performance of dental technical work or the provision of dental prosthetic services and for related purposes

Ensure the interests and welfare of the public are protected
Conduct professional or personal assement panels as required, to ensure professional standards of practice are met and to refer serious materrs to the tribunal.
Provide advice to the Minister for Health, government agencies and other organisations.
Board membership
The Board comprises six registered Dental Technicians/Prosthetists and one Community Representative.

Functions
The Board :
- Registers suitable qualified Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists to enable them to practice in the ACT.
- Is responsible for the consideration of complaints against registered Dental Technicians/Prosthetists
- Is responsible for the general monitoring of the conduct of the profession in the ACT.
- Protects the public from the activities of unqualified and unscrupulous persons through registration of suitably qualified Dental Technicians and Dental Prosthetists
- Monitors best practice standards and conduct of the profession.
Aims
The Board aims to protect the public from the activities of unqualified or unregistered persons through the registration of suitably qualified Dental Technicians & Dental Prosthetists. In addition, the Board is responsible to ensure that the provisions of the Act are administered in a fair and equitable manner without bias to concerned individuals.
Mandatory Signage
Section 95 of the Human Rights Commission Act 2005 provides that signage concerning making a complaint about a disability services, a health service, a service for children and young people, and a service for older people, must be displayed at all premises where these services are provided. A mandatory signage template, which can be photocopied and laminated/framed before being clearly displayed at premises where services are provided can be downloaded from the HRC website
