It can only be accessed by authorised Canberra Sexual Health Centre staff.
Do I need a referral or an appointment?
No, you do not need a referral letter to be seen. Many doctors refer patients to the Centre for a second opinion or for help in the management of certain conditions. Please phone or attend Walk-In Clinics.

What sort of tests will you do?
This depends upon the condition that you have. Most people who are seeking a full check up will require a blood test; men will need to provide a urine test at the clinic and women may require a vaginal examination. Recent advances in sexual health medicine mean that the number of tests required are kept to a minimum.
Do I have to have symptoms to attend?
No. Some people with an STI develop symptoms which can be very troubling; e.g pain while urinating or discharge from the penis or vagina; or ulcers or lumps in the genital area may also occur.
But many people who have an STI will be unaware that they are infected.
This is why a check up is important for anyone who has had unprotected intercourse (i.e. sexual contact without a condom).
We are happy to provide information and advice about sexual matters. Please feel free to call and have a chat with one of our experienced staff.
Remember
- If you have ever had sex, you can have a sexually transmitted infection (STI)
- Most people who have an STI do not have symptoms
- Testing for an STI is free and simple - consider it now
