ACT Health fact sheets for expectant mothers and health professionals containing important information, including preconception information, antenatal tests for abnormalities, induction of labour, miscarriage, vaginal birth after caesarian and what to bring to hospital.

Regular mammography screening is recommended for women aged 50-69. BreastScreen ACT & SE NSW offers screening mammography service free to all women aged over 50 years in the ACT. Contact 13 20 50 to make an appointment or drop into the clinic reception 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections; HIV care provided by specialist physicians with full access to anti-viral and other HIV treatments; counselling and information for sexual health issues. Phone (02) 6244 2184 during business hours.

A Pap test is a simple procedure in which a number of cells are collected from your cervix and sent to a laboratory where they are tested for any abnormal changes. No drugs or anaesthetics are required and it can easily be done by a doctor or women's health nurse. It only takes a few minutes, but it may save your life. Contact (02) 6205 1545 to locate an ACT pap test provider.

The Australian Government is providing a new vaccine free to all women and girls aged between 12 and 26 through the National HPV Vaccination Program. The vaccine protects women against certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV), which are known to cause 7 out of 10 cases of cervical cancer and 9 out of 10 cases of genital warts.

Community Health provides counselling for women affected by violence. Violence can be sexual, physical or emotional and include domestic violence, sexual assault, childhood abuse or incest, ritual abuse or institutional abuse. The service is free and all women affected by violence can access medical and counselling services. For more information phone (02) 6205 1078 between 8.30am - 5pm weekdays.

SIDS and Kids ACT regularly hosts an Early Pregnancy Loss support group. Call SIDS and Kids ACT on (02) 6287 4255 for more information.

Sexual Health & Family Planning ACT offers best practice sexual and reproductive health clinical services to Canberra and the region. SHFPACT Doctors and Nurses have sexual and reproductive health qualifications, and are experienced in dealing with sexual health matters sensitively. Phone (02) 6247 3077 for an appointment Monday to Friday during business hours.

The Australian Government's Family Assistance Office gives Australian families better access to government services. Instead of going to different agencies to get family assistance, families can now get all their payments from just one place.

headspace ACT provides support, information and assistance for young people aged 12 to 25 years who are experiencing emotional or mental health issues and/or a substance use issue.

Lab Tests Online Au is a free web site where patients and their carers can find trustworthy and accurate information about the range of pathology tests and screens that are used to diagnose and monitor conditions and diseases.

Marie Stopes International's Canberra clinic offers a broad range of sexual and reproductive health care services to men and women, including abortion, vasectomy, contraception and STI check-ups.

Mental Health ACT provides specialist treatment and support to those people experiencing a moderate to severe mental illness. Call Mental Health ACT on 13 2281, the Crisis Assessment and Treatment (CATT) Team on 1800 629 354 (24 hour service), or (02) 6205 1065.

Through our Child Health Clinics and other services, ACT Health provides support for you and your newborn baby right through to your child's early years. For free and professional confidential counselling in relation to pregnancy testing, unplanned pregnancy, post-abortion concerns, pregnancy support, pregnancy loss and adoption, call the national Pregnancy Helpline on toll free 1300 139 313.

The service provides support for people over the age of 18, although parents of youth at risk are encouraged to call for support. Call the Suicide Call Back Service Referral Line 1300 659 467. It is staffed between 10am and 8.30pm, seven days a week.

Community Health's Well Women's Clinics offer free information on issues such as menstrual cycles, menopause, sexuality and relationship and pregnancy issues. The clinics also offer early detection services, such as pap smears, breast checks and blood pressure checks. Wheelies is a free community service for all those people who need to use a wheelchair and still want to get out and travel.

The Women's Centre for Health Matters provides services to support women's health and well being. You can contact the service Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on (02) 6290 2166.

Women's Information and Referral Centre (WiRC) aims to provide a high quality, free, confidential, relevant and accurate information and referral service for women and their families in the ACT and Region.
