Community Health's Migrant Health Unit provides on site healthcare interpreting services between clinicians and clients from Bosnian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Croatian, Serbian, Spanish & Vietnamese backgrounds.

These healthcare interpreters specialise in assisting the communication process between health professionals and immigrant clients, helping both overcome language barriers and cultural differences and ensuring informed consent.

Cross cultural awareness training

The Unit also conducts workshops for health service providers on the effective use of interpreters and cross cultural awareness.

Service access

Phone healthcare interpreters on (02) 6205 3333 during business hours.

Cost

The service is free and confidential, but bookings are essential as interpreters work part time and there is a high demand.
